N.Y. Judge Dismisses Malpractice Claims Against Noted Litigator
When Citigroup Chief Executive Officer Charles O. Prince caught sight of a flattering profile of Stanley S. Arkin in the New York Sun last year, he felt compelled to dash off a quick e-mail to the well-known litigator. "Dear stanley -- nice profile (and picture!) in today's new york sun. Best, Chuck," he wrote. "It was a nice gesture," Arkin said Wednesday. "I never thought anything more about it than that." Fortunately for Arkin, neither did Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Karen S. Smith, even though the chummy communication came as Arkin was representing ex-Citigroup investment management chief Thomas W. Jones, who was then challenging his October 2004 firing by Prince. The representation is mentioned in the second paragraph of the Feb. 17, 2005, Sun story.
