Lawmakers bash top high-tech firms for yielding to China
Four of the country's largest technology companies endured withering criticism over their controversial business practices in China Wednesday from members of Congress who accused firms such as Yahoo and Google of trampling civil liberties in order to make money. The two Silicon Valley giants were summoned to Capitol Hill, along with Microsoft and Cisco Systems, to answer for such practices as censoring search results and turning over e-mail records of dissidents to the government in Beijing.
