After spending nearly a century tucked contentedly away on the East Coast, Boston's Goodwin Procter is following some of its rivals out to the Wild West.
The full-service firm has confirmed plans to open an office in San Francisco as early as this summer as part of its ongoing effort to shift its status from a regional firm to a national firm. It is also considering opening offices in Silicon Valley and the Los Angeles area.
Firm leadership, spearheaded by financial services attorney and Chairwoman Regina Pisa, has yet to determine how the new San Francisco office will take shape. Goodwin lawyers see San Francisco as a good match for the firm's areas of strategic focus, which include private equity, intellectual property, financial services and technology firms.
